What a week!

What a week it's been in our house so far!Firstly I took this lovely picture last saturday morning but didn't get the chance to post it on my blog as Hamish came down with chicken pox,he said "Mummy I've got chicken pops not chicken pox!".I just had to laugh at the way he said it
So not mush sewing here then? One little owl purse that's it!The week went down hill from there on really. The next thing to happen was the cooker broke down, but I thought it's alright we've got the microwave we can manage til the new cooker comes, that decided to give up the ghost last night. They say it always happens in three's and their right it does,I bought a big box of wash powder from tesco today and when I got home the bottom fell out of it!Wash powder everywhere!
I shall end on a slightly lighter note with Hamish dressed up as a little red devil! He raided his sister's dressing up box,and believe me he really didn't mind dressing up not that his face say's that.I hope you've all had a good week.

Snow play!

This is the seen of our back garden on friday morning, with a light..ish dusting of snow and a slightly foggy start to the day.
And this is the view from the back bedroom over the fields at the back of our garden this morning sunday.
Hamish was dying to get outside to play this morning!
Chasing everyone with handfuls of snow,he actually ended up with a mouthful and wasn't too impressed.
Alice was enjoying every moment of it too! She's been asking when it's going to snow for week's now.

The kid's made a polar bear with a little help!
Hamish wanted a whole family of bears.

We went for a little sledge ride up to the main road to see how clear it was.Now we're all in the warm with damp clothes drying on the radiator's.I think it's time for a hot chocolate. What's the weather been like for you this weekend?

BIRTHDAY HOOKY!

Today I celebrated my birthday with a little hooky!Yesterday I finished my most recent project pictured below,a grey sparkly snood.I pinned it out on the floor yesterday to shape it and then I was left feeling just a little at a loss as to what to do next so I hooked up the above jar jacket last night and finished it today.
I'm feeling rather smug with myself for having completed two hooky projects in just one weekend.Oooh what to do next?Perhaps some granny bunting in red, white and blue for the queens jubilee?Or a cushion in a similar design to the above jar jacket,as I'm really liking the style.Soo many idea's and not enough time to create.
One of my birthday presents this cute little owl cushion,I've been wanting one for quite a while!
And some lovely plant's from the kid's and a very nice dish to stand them in.
A little colour added to the kitchen window sill . . . . . . .spring is on it's way,the morning's are starting to get much lighter and the sun even showed for a short while this afternoon.
Alice's homemade wrapping paper, she drew all the thing's that I apparently like!
And last weekend Alice did some paper crafting with her brother Hamish, the results were really lovely so I decided to display them on the living room door.
I really love all the sparkle,Hamish's didn't turn out quite so well as he went a little mad with the pva glue and  not quite so mad with the glitter which isn't like him at all!

A cosy night in!

I've spent a nice quiet weekend in trying to get on with this crochet blanket that I started last summer,I have to say this is my first ever large crochet blanket. My very first crochet blanket was for Alice's doll's.Progress is slow I keep picking it up and putting it down in between smaller projects, and now I've taken to doing a few stripes every night. The problem is I'm just not sure how big to make it!
All this hooky by candle-light,cosy by the stove. It's been quite cold here this weekend, the last two morning's have been frosty and white over.
And I treated myself to a little winter cheer, these lovely tulip's . . . . . . . .oh and some wool which is already a hooky work in progress,a lovely light grey wool with sequin's soft and stroke-able.You'll have to wait and hopefully it won't be too long and I can show you ;-).

1st finish for 2012!

My first finish for 2012!And I am really pleased with the result's,for sometime now I've been threatening to make a purse for my crochet hooks to go in,as it get's a little tiring when I keep misplacing them!As a matter of fact due to the fact that I have mislaid them on more than one occasion I have been out and bought duplicates of the sizes that I use the most.
I made this little purse from my most favourite thing's!
So if you don't already recognise the fabric it's Cath Kidston and I have a bit of a thing about yo-yo's,button embellishments and ric-rac.

A finish! vbg

I can proudly announce another finish to tick off my to do list and I must say it always gives me a rather large grin of smug self satisfaction that yes,yes after roughly 2 years in the UFO pile I have finally put my mind to it and with shear determination I and I alone have finished something . . . . . . .anyway enough of blowing my own trumpet I have to say it couldn't have been done without one of DH's delicious homemade mince pie's and a lovely cup of tea or perhaps it was several? All I know is new year will me a little less sewing and a little more exercise,as I have to admit I have gained a few extra christmas pounds and sadly no I'm not talking money.
Mmm lovely sweet mince pie with orange flavoured pastry . . . . . . . .I might just have to have one now?

Christmas 2011

Our christmas 2011!Well we started it off by doing plenty of christmas baking and Alice and Hamish got well  stuck in and really enjoyed themselves.
And the result's from there baking didn't last long they were soon scoffed up!We baked cup cakes, mince pies and sausage roll's all this with plenty of assistance from my two little helper's.
5.15am christmas morning Alice woke the whole house because she said she was just too excited to sleep.
Hamish was thrilled to bit's with what he got the main thing being Buzz lightyear,it's all he has talked about for months and every time someone has asked him what he want's for christmas the same answer A BIG BUZZ LIGHTYEAR is the reply. So much so that his pre-school teacher said on his last day of term I hope you've got him Buzz lightyear!I have enjoyed the last week off and have made the most of not having to get up in a rush in the morning's on our first morning off we didn't get dressed til gone 10 . . . . .tut!tut!
And I've even done some crafting and will very shortly have a few bit's to show you,and thanks to my lovely neighbour who kindly gave me a big bin bag brimming with wool a week before christmas!I'm already planning a crochet blanket for Hamish and I found just the pattern tonight in blogland.
I hope you've all had a lovely christmas and I wish you all the best for 2012! xx
