Mother's day gift and some sewing time!

Yesterday Alice and Hamish decided to get stuck in in the allotment, helping plant potatoe's at least I think you could call it helping.
Hamish look's to be stood dishing out the order's to his big sister and brother,he must be the foreman.
Alice about to pop a potatoe into the ground.
And now preparing to cover it with a little compost, this is her posing for the camera.
And today mother's day I spent most of it sewing! Now remember that I told you I was making a leaving gift for Alice's teacher, who love's pink and yellow well it's finished and I must say I'm quite pleased.
I started by making a crazy patchwork hanging heart and used some machine embroidery to quilt it,then I thought what more useful than a note book with fabric cover and finally Alice was quite insistant that her teacher really needed a pencil case to which I replied "don't be silly all teacher's have a pencil case".But on enquiring with her teaching assistant she said Alice was quite right the teacher's pencil case was looking a little worse for wear.So that was me told by my 5 year old daughter.
And of course my mother's day gift chosen by Alice this beautiful little house plant in a stripey box and a fruit cake made by DH.Mmmm!

A little sunshine and a work in progress!

We've had some really lovely warm day's this last week and Alice and Hamish have been making the most of it,playing out in the garden and going for little walk's.
Alice looking rather cheeky on Hamish's go-cart making the most of the sunshine after school last week.
And Hamish in a pair of Alice's wellies, even though he has his own pair he seem's to prefer his sister's pair.
And my work in progress, for fear of repeating myself,I think I told you Alice's teacher is leaving at the end of this term at easter break and I am making her a crazy patchwork hanging heart in her favourite colour's.
I only hope she like's it!I shall machine embroider all the edge's of the patch's and I can't make up my mind whether to make a label that say's . . . . . best teacher, plus I'm also thinking of making her a crazy patchwork note book cover  . . . . . any suggestion's on where to find a pattern would be greatfully recieved!

Here's some lovely photo's of my Alice and Hamish with there monster red noses on.
Don't they just look sooo cute and funny.Hamish's cheesy grin is just great!
And today whilst out rumaging in the charity shop's I found these gorgeous fabric tea-towel's,a snip at £2.49 for 3 lovely tea-towel's that are just too pretty to use.I shall sit and admire them for a while first. And yesterday was a girly pamper day as a good friend of mine came round to do hair and eyebrows for me and 2 friends we had coffee and lots of chocolate cake and dundee cake cooked by DH,and plenty of chatting and laughing we had a great day and decided to do a girly shopping day very soon.

Retail therapy of the fabric-y kind!

Look at these lovely fabric's I bought today from my LQS,these are for a leaving gift for Alice's teacher.I got Alice to question her as to her favourite colour's.I can't wait to show you what I'm going to make from them but for now that will have to remain hush, hush!

And at the weekend DH decided to decorate some small plat tray's with Alice and Hamish and plant some cress seed's,Alice's tray is the brightly coloured rainbow one.
They went kind of wild with 2 pack's of seed's lets just say there'll be plenty of egg and cress sandwiches.I must apologise for neglecting all of my follower's with no up-date's on my blog, but for the last 3 week's I've been quite un-well,I'm gladly starting to feel much better and almost back to normal.
Now what do we think to this little poser!Hamish posed for this cute snap and then when he saw it he laughed at himself and found it quite funny.

Spring cheer!

I decided yesterday to treat myself to these lovely dafodil's at just 99p a bunch what a bargain bit of spring cheer to brighten and fragrance my kitchen.
The dafodil's are starting to bud up the road on the grass verge,we pass them every morning on our walk to the school bus.
And a little of what is a work in progress!Very slow progress in fact!
I am a huge fan of Cath Kidston fabric's and this is what I have been slowly,oh so slowly doing patchwork hexagon's to make a throw or a cushion perhap's for the sofa? Not really sure I haven't quite got that far yet.
